Hair Accessories

Besides getting your hair done with different hairstyles, nothing is complete with HAIR ACCESSORIES! Hair accessories are the perfect finishing touch to a hair style or outfit. There is a huge variety of hair accessories.. from bobby pins to bun holders to headbands to ponytail holders and many more!

Bobby Pins
Bobby Pins are essential! I'm sure every girl out there knows what Bobby Pins are used for, right? :P Bobby Pins may appear to be small but they are very useful indeed in securing a hairstyle so strands of hair won't fall off and they keep your hair in place, maintaining a neat and tidy hairstyle.

Using a Bobby Pin to secure your fringe in many ways
Using Bobby Pins to create a messy bun
Bobby Pins are great for casual hairstyle too. At the end of the day, when your hair has just gone flat and you don't have a pony tail holder, you can use Bobby Pins to put your hair up in a messy bun. The most common use of bobby pins is to secure the fringe up by pinning them back or braiding them back and using a Bobby Pin to secure the braid.

Ponytail holders
A common ponytail holder looks something like the pictures above though there are many other vareity. It may not necessarily add any 'spark' to the hair because it's mainly used to secure the ponytail. How about purchasing fancy ponytail holders that goes with ribbons or even flowers on it!(I love flowers, a lot! It gives off a softer look) It creates a whole new image - from a dull ponytail to an appealing ponytail look.

Headbands
Headbands worn in the hair or around the forehead, usually to hold hair away from the face or eyes. Headbands are best worn to pull of a simple bohemian/hippie hairstyle! Braided headbands(picture above) is the most common and simple hair accessory worn by many. Some headbands come in with different designs and patterns too. This is usually how headbands are worn to pull of a bohemian/hippie look.

Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens
Well, of course there are many other hair accessories to complement your hairstyle and outfit. These 3 commonly used hair accessories are pretty much essential in a girl's daily hairdo! Different accessories also have many kinds of designs ranging from simple-looking ones to the fanciful ones. After all, what successfully pulls off a final look is how you cleverly accessorise your hair with! Have fun mixing and matching!

Back to Basics

To come up with creative hairstyles on your hair, you must be able to master the basics of specific hairstyles. Referring to my previous post, I introduced "Lauren Conrad's Headband Braid." This hairstyle is categorized under Hair Braiding. There are different types of hair braiding. Examples include:

  • Basic English BraidsThis is the most common braid and is quick and easy to create even on yourself.

  • French Braid
It can be done in two styles, the overbraid which creates the classic woven appearance of a French braid, or the Dutch Braid (sometimes called an underbraid or inverted braid) which creates a braided rope that sits on top of the hair

  • Dutch Braid

Before attempting hair braiding at higher difficulty levels, master the basics, practice and keep on improving! It takes time to succeed because I've been there too. By putting what you have learnt into actions, it's only when you know you can get it done. :)

Some pictures of me and my friends on Hair Braiding. Enjoy!

DON'T STOP TRYING! if i can do it, so can you! =>

Lauren Conrad Inspired Headband Braid

Lauren Conrad's headband braid seems to be the 'in-thing' hairstyle currently! It is often done by most teenagers these days, don't you think so? So, besides literally using big headbands, bobby pins and hair clips, why not try using your own hair to create a headband?! Interesting much! This hairstyle is suitable for girls with both long and short hair(provided if you have a long fringe)

Try this out! :)
